Xbox Series X The Next Generation of Game Console

The Countdown Started

The countdown is there and its lefts 23 days to the new generation of the Xbox come. The new generation will come with two amazing models, one called Xbox Series X which is the most powerful Xbox ever done and the other one is called Xbox series S which is a digital version (without Blu ray Driver).

Specifications of the Xbox Series X

The Xbox Series X comes with a really strong 7nm AMD Zen 2 CPU which contains 8 Cores running at 3.8 GHz, that is a big improvement in comparison with the old 16nm 8x Custom Jaguar Cores at 2.13GHz from the Xbox One X (the currently most powerful console selling at the moment).

The GPU

The GPU it had a massive improvement as well, it is a 16GB GDDR6 with a memory bandwidth totalling 896GB/s (10GB at 560GB/s and 6GB at 336GB/s). This all power will make the console able to run games at 4K resolution, HDR and up to 120fps and by adding the console will support 8K resolution.

The Ray Tracing

The ray tracing is another big feature that the GPU will be capable to handle and it will make the games much realistic in term of illumination of the scenarios. Other features as AMD FreeSync which synchronizes the framerates with the screen refresh rate, meaning that if you have a 60hz screen but the game is running at 120fps, you will not see tears in your screen during gaming.

The Memory

The memory is ok but is not enough. The console will come with 1TB SSD which will be extremely fast to run the textures of the game and apps like skype, Netflix and etc. But we all know that games are achieving more than 100Gb easy, as example, Call Of Duty Warzone it has around 200Gb of content to install, so it means that if we install 5 games of the same calibre of COD Warzone, the console will be out of storage. Probably this may be a way of Microsoft make money with their news externals SSDs expansions cards developed specially for the new Xbox Series x and S.

The Console

The console will come with 1TB SSD which will be extremely fast to load the textures of the game and apps like Skype, Netflix and etc. However, we all know that games are achieving more than 100Gb easy.  For example, Call Of Duty Warzone it has around 200Gb of content to install.  This means that if we install 5 games of the same calibre of COD Warzone, the console will be out of storage.

Probably this may be a way of Microsoft make money with their news externals SSDs expansions cards developed especially for the new Xbox Series x and S. If people do not want to buy the expansions from the Microsoft it is not a problem due the console provides 3X USB 3.1 which means that people can use their own SSDs or HDDs in order to get extra memory in their console.

Specifications of the Xbox Series S

Even as a cheaper option the Xbox Series S will not disappoint. The processor is the same as the Xbox Series X (8x Cores @ 3.8 GHz (3.66 GHz w/ SMT) Custom Zen 2 CPU) so it means that the console will have a good frame rate. While the CPU is good, the GPU is not so powerful. The GPU of Series S comes with 4TFLOPS and 10GB GDDR6, it will not run 4K resolution native speaking but it will upscale to. The main goal is to run games at 1440p and up to 120fps.

About The Cost

To make it cheap the console will not come with Blu ray driver, so do not expect to put any kind of CD, DVD or Blu ray into the console because it won’t be possible.  Other “negatively point” is the 512GB SSD that comes with it. The SSD will be faster as the one which comes inside the Xbox Series X but of course, will be with less capacity of storage.  The console is 60% smaller than the Xbox Series X, this is due to the less power inside and the less necessity of cooling capacity.

Extra information about the new console generation:

  • All devices (Wheels, headsets, controllers, Flight Joysticks) bought to use with the Xbox one will be compatible with the Xbox Series X and S.
  • Xbox promised to keep the retro compatibility which means that you will be able to keep and play your games acquired since from the original Xbox.
  • The new Assassins creed Valhalla will run in 4K HDR native resolution and up to 120fps.
