Tragic Taser Inquest

An unarmed man died as part of being “Inappropriately and unreasonably” Tasered and restrained by police officers. Jordan Begley was 23, and died in hospital after the inappropriate tasing by a police officer following a row with the neighbours on July 10th 2013.

Eleven officers were apparently in attendance at Mr. Begley’s home after Jordan’s mother rang the 999 service to report he was carrying a weapon.

Jordan Begley was thought to have been hit with the 50,000 volt gun from a distance no more than 70cm (28 Inches). The inquest into his death was told he was hit with ‘distraction strikes’ while officers apprehended and restrained him into handcuffs by three officers which were armed. The jury said PC Donnelly pulled the trigger for eight seconds which was “not reasonable in the circumstances”.

The Begley family is now thought to be seeking legal advice.
