Local Superwoman Fosters 100 Children

Local Supermum Carmel Stott proves she knows how to care for children as she has looked after more than 100 children in 31 years.

She has been a source of love, support and wisdom, to more than 100 children since becoming a foster parent 31 years ago. Tomorrow Carmel and 26 other long caring foster carers from Salford will be honoured with long serving awards- at a time when Salford is urgently trying to find 40 foster recruits carers to cope with demand.

Carmel is from Monton in Eccles, she looks after children with Bill, her husband, who is a former Greater Manchester Police Officer. She has been quoted saying “Every day is a different day- every child is an individual, and you never know what tomorrow will bring. You have to care for their individual needs”.

Carmel it all started when she was a new mum she thought it might be a good idea to ask about fostering as she seen a poster advertising the fostering service when she was pushing her baby through Eccles Town Centre. She says she still has no regrets on that spur of the moment decision, and has kept in touch with many of the children she has cared for.
