Andrew Hayhurst Guilty Of Fraud
Andrew Hayhurst is a former Lancashire CCC star, he is now found guilty of £100k fraud, the 53-year-old has been creating a string of claims to the Cricket Board for cash which was meant to be for young cricketers but was in fact pocketing the cash for himself.
The former professional cricketer and was in fact the director of the Lancashire Cricket Board has officially been jailed for two years and swindling £100,000.
The 53-year-old created false invoices which he submitted to the cricket body, he then put the cheques into his bank account, totalling £107,772. Minshull Street Crown Court heard Andrew Hayhurst, was a director of the prestigious Lancashire Cricket Board, which represents the small cricket teams inside of the Greater Manchester Area.
He used letter heads from Worsley Cricket Club, which he played in his time as a cricketer, these letter heads were used to create strings of many different bogus claims to the cricket board.
The former director was dismissed from his director’s duties in 2013 when the suspicions started to arise about the pay-outs.
