Coronavirus Regional variations are clear, says the ONS.

Daily coronavirus cases in England have increased by about 10,000 to around 27,900, according to latest ONS estimates.

The week before was 17,200 new infections per day and the week before was 12,600.

There was also a big rise in the total number of people who have caught the virus  in England. Rising from 224,000 to 336,000 in a single week.

This reading estimates that 0.62% of the population or 1 in 160 people.

The estimate shows the number of infections has continued to increase rapidly in these recent weeks.

The figures covering from 2nd and 8th October, are for private households and do not include people in hospitals and care homes.
