Chihuahua named dog of the year for caring for rescued animals

MacKenzie takes care of the rescued animals regardless of species or size. Like a real mother she cleans, comforts and caresses animals, teaching, them to socialize and play.

A four-pound Chihuahua was named American Dog of the Year by the NGO American Humane, in the United States, through a public vote with more than one million votes.

 

Little MacKenzie drew public attention for helping rescued animals with physical and emotional problems to recover.

The chihuahua was born with a cleft lip and used his little problem to identify himself with other animals in difficulty. MacKenzie was voted the most popular, beating 407 other competitors across the country and winning the main title at the ‘American Humane Hero Dog Awards’.

 

The award pays homage to ordinary dogs that do extraordinary things, such as saving lives on the battlefield, lending sight / hearing to a human companion or simply for giving love and care.

 

Another 6 puppies were also awarded in the categories: search and rescue, guide, military, law enforcement, service and therapy.

The dog drew attention for her story of overcoming. When newborn MacKenzie contracted aspiration pneumonia that almost took her life. She overcame all her difficulties and now helps other rescued animals that suffer from a problem.

 

MacKenzie plays as a nurse and mother: cleans, comforts and caresses animals, teaching them to socialize and play.

MacKenzie can be the mother of anything from an ant to an elephant.
