Canelo Alvarez Will Move To Cruiserweight

Canelo Alvarez became undisputed super-middleweight champion in boxing on the 6th November knocking out Caleb Plant in the 11th round. Spanning across 11 months Canelo has had 4 fights collecting the 4 major championship belts (IBF,WBA,WBC,WBO) and has become the first undisputed super-middleweight champion of the world.

Canelo plans to become a 5 weight division champion by fighting  WBC champion Ilunga Makabu as early as 2022. Canelo has fought from welterweight(147lbs) all the way to light heavyweight(175lbs).However, he now attempts to fight in a division just below heavy weight which is cruiser-weight. With a maximum weight of 190lbs, Canelo at just 5ft7 will jump 2 weight-classes and gain 20 pounds to fight Ilunga Makabu, a fighter 5 inches taller than him. A fighter with knockout power having knocked out 25 of his 30 opponents. This is a risky bout for Canelo Alvarez however, his chin is as tough as it comes having never been dropped in 60 bouts.
